This indicator includes orders for durable and non-durable goods. The second group includes food, clothes and auxiliary goods which are meant to be used together with durable goods (in plain words, consumable materials or supplies). The first group contains all the goods with a durability of more than 3 years (cars, consumer electronics, furniture and so on). This indicator has a rather weak impact on the market. However, you should pay attention to it if it is trending higher as then it becomes a positive economic factor that leads to the rise of a national currency.
Factory orders index is released in the beginning of every month at 10:00 EST (New York).
