This is the difference in the quantity of unemployment benefit claims for the week. The indicator itself is rather a weak factor in the Forex market but it may contribute to the growth of the national currency. Besides that, a long-term and steady decrease in the number of claims can be an early alert that a much stronger indicator called Non-farm payrolls will be higher when it is released. The index is released weekly at 08:30 EST (New York) on Thursdays.
